Statik City Logo Redesign

After spending some time away from Statik City and getting a chance to clear my head, I realized what direction I wanted to take next. Originally, Statik City was created to share my t-shirt designs, both ones created from my ideas and fan ideas. So I talked to a friend in fashion and realized that everyone and their mother really does own a t-shirt business. I wanted to be different. Then I thought, why should I be creating more clothing when there is already so much in the world right now?

Statik City's new mission is to create new clothes out of threads that people no longer want. It's a concept that is not original, but practical. With this new direction in the company, I thought it would be fair to create a new logo as well.
On the left is the old abstract logo. It was not created for Statik City, but I liked the abstract of this random piece I created a few years ago and decided to recreate it. On the right is a text logo. At this time I found two fonts that I was extremely fond of, and very popular in the design world at the time, and used them.
The font family that I chose to use in the new logo is Bebas Neue. I used this in the previous design, but this sans serif font stands out more with two types of weight.
I liked the way the slant looked on both words. I felt that this helped make the statement of how Statik City is shifting their goals. I also felt that by breaking the words into two and having them not line up, it would give the logo a more distinct look.
One thing that I really love about this logo is how versatile it is.
